START HOME SMART ROAD SMART WORK SMART POLICY SMART WHYMY

Why is it MY energy policy?

Because you are using it. At home, at work, at play. You are a user, and that's ok. Despite the Luddite preachings of some environmentalists, we are going to use energy. That genie is out of the bottle, ship has left port, deed is done, and many other cliches.

So be a smart user, educate yourself, make smart decisions. Everyone has a role to play.

Part of your energy policy is advocating for a National Energy policy. Energy powers our economy and our lives — without it, we are quite literally in the dark. Without access to affordable and reliable supplies of energy in the United States, U.S. businesses are forced to move elsewhere, taking U.S. jobs and support for the economy with them and impacting our global competitiveness. Become dedicated to addressing America's energy challenges and doing your part to solve them.

As founder of the Institute for 21st Century Energy and a co-founder of the Alliance for Energy and Economic Growth (Alliance), the U.S. Chamber has long been recognized as a leader in advocating a comprehensive national energy policy. The legislation adopted by Congress and signed by the president incorporates the key components of a comprehensive energy policy, which include:
  • increasing energy efficiency and conservation;
  • ensuring adequate energy supplies and generation;
  • renewing and expands the energy infrastructure;
  • encouraging investment in new energy technologies; and
  • ensuring appropriate consideration of the effects of regulatory policies on energy supplies.
